Ochiba Shigure by rolfness Ochiba Shigure by rolfness
Hi guys

Well a departure from my normal stuff, this piece was 99% experimentation in terms of theme and technique
It frustrated me alot but has alot of meaning built into it. was fun to do, thinking of doing another like it.

40x30 inches acrylic on canvas.

Hope you like it :)

The texture is excellent and I really love the unique way you portrayed ripples. I also like the use of black.

:D hiya thank you..
It was a really interesting piece for me,
I had to really fight with my normal style
to get these results, and after it was finished
I wasnt sure if I liked it and I nearly painted over it.
Im working on numero deux at the moment =^_^=

This is far from your regular paintings, which I really like.
Taking daring steps in directions you never thought you
would go is the first thing to finding what you really enjoy
about painting. This one is well done, and uses a very
earthy, strong palatte. Great work.

first i must say...........it's an UBER-COOL KICK ASS TITLE! xD (yeah, i'm an avid fan of japanese names :D) btw, what does it mean? :D

and whoo, the painting really has different interpretation of the name, it sychronized/harmonized with the theme that you want to impart :)

and wow, it's huge :O

hiya cerhiby

it means "autmn leaves on water" it came out pretty much as I wanted, Im not so happy with some of it but I suppose it was experimentation so from that point of view I do like it. heh.. actually this one is alot smaller than some of the stuff I was doing before ^_^

Impressive work, Rolfy. When I had a look at the thumb I didnt realize that was a painting, but rather a photo! I really like the geometry in this!

hi man thanks,

yeah I was playing with circles, I used a piece of string to draw them was such an ass.. but I got a new gizmo that lets me draw big big circles now so the next one will be a bit neater looking

Beautiful and stunning work. I like it in its simplicity from distance but adore the texture up close. I can see you have put a lot of heart into it. It is very earthy and warm, even though you did use grays but you gave those grays a life, by adding the texture to them, they in a way become alive.

hiya sandra

thanks so much

it pleases me that you like it, to me you're one of the most emotional painters I know and Im glad that you got something from it.
it gives me hope. technique wise I played alot with different things and mixed sand into paint for the first time, I kept thinking of
concrete the whole time I was painting.

you are most welcome. mixing things in paint is always most fun. try mixing ashes or oron chips one day it gives coolest effect or wiping paint with skrunched newspapers.
