I decided to do a piece of one of my favourite Taiko groups the Wadaiko Yamato, seen them perform live twice now and they rock more than most metal bands hehehe
Graphite stick 8Bpencil 0.9 3B mechanical pencil B and + lots of squinting ..
Ahh the final after much hassle.. took 6 hours in total
Wow, this really caught my eye - great light-dark contrasts going on here! I *love* the way you've drawn the fabric - it looks really real and kinda shiny... The closest I've come to seeing these guys perform is the TV screen - must be fantastic seeing them live! Anyway, great pic - the 6 hours were definately worth it!
Ooh very nice texturing on the cloth . The hakama? is rendered so shinily... I like it . Also, very nice sense of strength conveyed. Taiko rocks ;D There are some rough spots (penciling outlines near the arm might be a bit too dark and so might draw the viewer's eye too much), and forgivable errors with shadows/lighting at a few points (i.e. the shading on the drum seems a bit inconsistent with the rest of the image? ), but again, this is a lovely image a whole ! Hope you don't mind the crit.
Wow that turned out great! I am loving the shading on the cloth and the rendering of the light on the muscles of his arms. Gorgeous!! +fav!! My first fav in about 2 weeks I love the guy's strong pose as well, nicely chosen!

I bet it feels good to be finished! Especially when the result looks that good! You should be proud. I hardly ever finish pictures, it's a really bad habit.
Maybe you're right about the pencil club - it might make me finish more stuff?! I'll give it a try. I hope you're right. Thanks very much for the suggestion, too!
